Before Warren died we purchased a condo in Spring Creek where Vernie Bedard lived. I know Warren wanted to get me settled in it but it just didn’t work out. I sold the house and moved into the condo March 1996. It was very nice, I loved living there, enjoyed the pool and everyone was very nice. Evie and Bob Luchen moved into one of the condos and I enjoyed having her close. It was wonderful having Pete, Dottie, Matthew and Miranda just about a mile away. There have been lots of highlights with Miranda and Matthew – seeing their baseball and soccer games, activities both at school and church.

I had no thoughts of moving but Cathy and Bill had word of an Aberdeen Village Manor being built near them in Kansas City. I read all of the information about it, went over to see where it was going up and heard more about it from Teri Monrad. I thought about it, prayed about it and bought an apartment. I moved in June 22, 2001. Once again the children were great in helping me move. I had a garage sale and each one of the children took something they wanted or could use.

I love my apartment, and feel so comfortable in it. Everyone is so nice. Corine Wise and I connected immediately and we enjoy our friendship. Betty Holt, Beth Jones, Beth Newcomer, Ruth Smith, and so many other new friends. I do miss what I left in St. Louis but I have a pretty wonderful life here. I play a lot of bridge and had learned enough more about it to really enjoy playing. We also play Mah Jongg and it has been fun for me to play it once again. I used to play it in Pittsburgh with the neighbors. I sing in the chorale, and am on the social committee. Corine and I chair the rummage sales and they have been very successful. I also set up for our movies every third Friday evening. We have outings that I have loved and six of us go out for dinner once a month. The meals are very delicious here and I love my apartment being cleaned every week. I know I am very fortunate and very blessed.

What fun to be near Sue and her family. There is always something going on and I often get in on it. Fun to be near Cathy and Bill and can share time with them too and get to see Andy and Melissa, and Graham and Brady are such fun to watch grow and it’s fun to be a part of their lives, too.
